Specialty Cocktails
"Sara Says" Martini
The owner loves her cava! This is Sara's favorite cocktail and "says" everyone should try this! Cava, vodka, fresh grapefruit.
"Rosa Martin" Gimlet
The gimlet is a cocktail made of gin and Rose's lime juice. A 1928 description of the drink was: gin, and a spot of lime. A description in the 1953 Raymond Chandler novel The Long Goodbye stated that "a real gimlet is half gin and half Rose's lime juice and nothing else." Our neighbor Rosa however says the only Gimlet to have consists of: Bombay Sapphire, squeezed lime, simple syrup, basil leaf.
Slow Stirred Negroni
No one really knows its true origin, but it was supposedly invented around 1919 in Florence, for a guy who wanted something a little stronger than his usual Americano cocktail (Campari, sweet vermouth and soda water). Gin, campari, vermouth.
Dark 'n' Stormy
This drink is very similar to the Moscow mule except that the Dark 'n' Stormy has dark rum instead of vodka. Rum, citrus, ginger beer.
Aperol Spritz
A fruity spin on a vodka martini one of the most popular aperitif cocktails in Italy. Just Aperol, prosecco and club soda.
Vesper Martini
James Bond's favorite! Gin, vodka, Lillet blanc, lemon twist.
French 75
This is a classic. Named after the French Army's weapon of choice during WWI - the French 75-millimeter light field gun. Champagne, gin, fresh squeezed lemon juice, lemon twist.
Boulevardier
Its creation is ascribed to Erskine Gwynne, an American born writer who founded a monthly magazine in Paris called Boulevardier, which appeared from 1927 to 1932 Vermouth, Campari, Rye whiskey.
Bloody Mary
The French bartender Fernand Petiot boasted to have invented the Bloody Mary in 1921. According to his granddaughter, he was working at the New York Bar in Paris at the time, which later became Harry's New York Bar, a frequent Paris hangout for Ernest Hemingway and other American migrants. The original cocktail was apparently created on the spur of the moment. This cocktail was originally referred to as a "Bucket of Blood". Vodka, house-made Bloody Mix, olives, celery, salted rim.
Manhattan
According to popular history the drink originated at the Manhattan Club in New York City in the mid-1870s, where it was invented by Iain Marshall for a banquet hosted by Jennie Jerome (Lady Randolph Churchill, mother of Winston) in honor of presidential candidate Samuel J. Tilden. The success of the banquet made the drink fashionable, later prompting several people to request the drink by referring to the name of the club where it originated—"the Manhattan cocktail. Whiskey, bitters, sweet vermouth, cherry.
Old Fashioned
The old-fashioned is one of the oldest mixed drinks in the cocktail canon. (Original name: whiskey cocktail, which became old-fashioned whiskey cocktail, and then just old-fashioned.) It is a stirred drink, usually built in the glass in which it is served. Bourbon, muddled sugar & orange slice, orange bitters, cherry.
Cosmopolitan
The cosmopolitan cocktail, typically referred to as the "cosmo," gained popularity during the 1990s when it was frequently mentioned on the television show Sex and the City. The combination of vodka, simple syrup, lime juice, and cranberry juice have made it a timeless classic. Vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice, simple syrup, lime wedge.
Moscow Mule
The drink is a type of buck and is sometimes called a vodka buck. Vodka, lime, simple syrup, ginger beer.
Salty Dog
A salty dog is a cocktail of gin, or vodka, and grapefruit juice, served in a highball glass with a salted rim. The salt is the only difference between a salty dog and a greyhound. Historically a gin drink, it is believed to date back to the 1920s gin or vodka, fresh grapefruit juice, salt rimmed glass.
Black Russian
The Black Russian is a simple, two-part cocktail combining vodka and Kahlúa, a coffee liqueur that’s made with rum, sugar and arabica coffee. The drink was created in the late 1940s by bartender Gustave Tops at the Hotel Metropole in Brussels. The dark and mysterious drink would have been emblematic of the time, with the Cold War having been just starting.
